The library is normally staffed Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The library is unstaffed for statutory holidays including Family Day, Good Friday and Easter Monday, Victoria Day, Canada Day, August Civic Holiday, Labour Day, National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, Thanksgiving, Remembrance Day, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year's Day.
Located on the northwest corner of the ground floor in the Milton Court House, the Halton County Law Association Library is a privately funded library for the exclusive use of its members, along with members in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario and articling students.
For information when visiting Court Houses in other jurisdictions, please visit the OCLA (Ontario Court House Librarian's) App.
A number of e-resources are provided through the Library Information Resource Network (LiRN).
LiRN is thrilled to announce a pilot of rangefindr.ca. Used in libraries, law firms, and courtrooms across Canada, it is now available — remotely and in your nearest courthouse library — to all lawyers in Ontario.
Get your login credentials within 24 hours by emailing greatlibrary@lso.ca with your name and Law Society number. NOTE: rangefindr.ca and HeinOnline use the same username and password, so if you are already able to access HeinOnline, skip this step.
Access to the Halton County Law Association Library is restricted to members of the Law Society of Ontario and articling students. After-hour access is restricted to HCLA paid-up members.
The library catalogue is maintained by the Great Library and is accessible through InfoLocate. To search only the holdings for the Halton County Law Association Library, click "Advanced Search" and select “Halton County” from the drop down menu where you see “All Libraries”.
