Dear Halton County Law Association,
My name is Himanshu Singla, and I am writing to inquire whether any of your member firms may have current or upcoming articling or Law Practice Program (LPP) work placement opportunities. I am an internationally trained lawyer and a Law Society of Ontario licensing candidate with a strong academic and practical background in law.
I hold an LL.M. in Constitutional, Human Rights, and Humanitarian Law, and I am currently pursuing an M.A. in Criminology at Wilfrid Laurier University, which I expect to complete in August 2026.
During the spring term, I completed one course in an online format, which provided me with the flexibility to work. To make the best use of this opportunity, I joined a law office in Brantford as a volunteer legal intern to gain practical exposure to the Canadian legal system and further develop the skills necessary to transition into a competent articling student. This experience has helped me develop a better understanding of legal procedures and practical skills within the Canadian legal setting.
As part of the Law Society of Ontario licensing process, I have also registered for the Law Practice Program (LPP), which is an alternative experiential training pathway to articling. The program includes a four-month work placement under the supervision of a lawyer or law firm from January to April 2027. Therefore, if any of your member firms are unable to accommodate an articling student but are open to hosting an LPP work placement, I would be equally grateful for the opportunity.
I also have prior experience working as an Associate Advocate in India, where I assisted in litigation matters through legal research, drafting, case preparation, and file management under senior supervision.
I have a strong interest in legal research and writing, and I approach legal work with discipline, sincerity, and a willingness to learn. My goal is to join a law firm for the long term, contribute meaningfully to its growth, and continue developing as a legal professional. I would be grateful for an opportunity to contribute to a member firm while further developing my practical legal skills. I am also willing to relocate anywhere in Ontario for the right opportunity.
I have attached my résumé for your review. I would greatly appreciate it if you could share my information with any member firms that may have current or future articling or LPP work placement opportunities. Please let me know if any additional information is required.
Thank you very much for your time and consideration.
Kind regards,
Himanshu Singla
